As such I do not own the original copyright on these images, nor do I claim to. The exception to this are photographs that I have taken and they are labeled as such.

    Under US and International Copyright, the images presented here are for the sole purpose of educational use and as such I feel that they fall under "Fair Use".  I am no way shape or form making any profit off of this site (in fact I am paying to have the site hosted now).  Where ever possible I have listed as much information about the image as possible.  In some cases information may not be available in the source that I scanned the image from.  If you require more information on a particular scan please e-mail me and I will be happy to provide whatever information that I have on a particular portrait.  Please view this site for more information regarding Copyright (thank you Marilee for taking the time to research this for all of us!)

    If you wish to use the images from this site, please do so.  That's why I am doing this, to make these images available to everyone.  However their use must be for educational purposes.  If you need an image for commercial purposes, by law you must contact the museum or holder of the portrait and obtain permission from them. It would be nice if you list this site as being the place where you obtained the image, thereby acknowledging the work that I have done here.  If you wish to use any of the photographs that I have taken I would appreciate an e-mail asking for permission just so I know how they will be used.
